SoloPilot Cookie Policy

1. About this policy

This policy explains how SoloPilot uses cookies and similar technologies, what each one is for, and how you can control them.

It sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more generally how we handle personal information.

"Cookies and similar technologies" covers small files and storage entries placed on your device by a website. In SoloPilot's case this includes browser cookies and two related browser storage mechanisms, local storage and session storage, which work in much the same way and are treated the same under this policy.

2. Your choices

When you first visit SoloPilot you are asked to choose between:

"Essential only" and "Reject all" have the same practical effect: nothing optional is loaded. We record them separately so that a refusal is distinguishable from a narrower choice.

Strictly necessary storage cannot be switched off, because SoloPilot cannot sign you in or keep you signed in without it. Where consent is required, we do not place optional storage before you have given it, and closing or ignoring the banner is not treated as consent.

Your choice is remembered on your device so you are not asked again. You can change it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for solopilot.co.uk, which will cause the banner to appear again.

3. Strictly necessary

These are required to deliver a service you have asked for, and are used without consent as permitted by law.

Authentication session — set by our authentication provider, Supabase, to keep you signed in between page loads and to refresh your session securely. Stored in local storage. Cleared when you sign out.

sidebar_state — a cookie remembering whether the navigation sidebar is expanded or collapsed. Expires after approximately seven days.

solopilot_cookie_consent — stores the cookie choice you made on the banner, so you are not asked repeatedly. Stored in local storage. Without it we could not honour your decision.

4. Preferences

These remember choices you have made so the product behaves consistently. They hold no identifying information and are kept on your device.

solopilot_theme — your light, dark or system appearance preference. Stored in local storage.

solopilot_trial_onboarding — a short-lived marker noting that you began a trial sign-up, so the right onboarding steps are shown. Stored in local storage and removed once onboarding completes.

Product tour and learning progress markers — record which introductory steps you have seen, so they are not repeated. Stored in local storage.

We treat these as part of delivering the interface you have asked for. They are not used for advertising or tracking across other websites.

5. Performance measurement

Loaded only if you choose Accept all.

Vercel Analytics — provided by Vercel, our hosting provider, to measure page views and site performance so we can find slow or broken pages. It is designed to work without cookies and without building a profile of individual visitors, and we do not use it to identify you.

If you choose "Essential only" or "Reject all", this is not loaded at all.

6. Cookies we do not use

SoloPilot does not use:

We do not sell information collected through cookies, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.

7. Third-party services

Some features load services operated by other companies. Where you use those features, those providers may set their own cookies or storage under their own policies:

Stripe — payment and subscription processing, including fraud prevention on payment pages.

Google — where you choose to connect a Google account for calendar synchronisation.

These are only involved when you use the relevant feature. We list our providers and their roles in section 5 of our Privacy Policy.

8. Managing cookies in your browser

Most browsers let you see what has been stored, delete it, and block cookies entirely. The relevant settings are usually under Privacy, Security or Site Settings.

Blocking all cookies and site storage will stop SoloPilot working, because you will not be able to stay signed in.

Clearing site data for solopilot.co.uk removes your saved cookie choice along with your preferences, and the banner will ask again on your next visit.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our use of cookies or similar technologies changes, or to reflect changes in law or guidance.

The date at the top shows when it was last updated. Where a change means we need to ask for your consent again, we will do so.
